Azad's remarks on Article 370 Remark Unfortunate: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Sep 13 (KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday termed Ghulam Nabi Azad's statement as unfortunate and said that he has dashed the hopes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding the restoration of article 370.

Addressing a press conference, the PDP Chief said that Ghulam Nabi Azad should not speak like this at all because the people of Jammu and Kashmir have a lot of hope in leaders like him. "When we defeated the British government, we can also fight with the BJP for the restoration of Article 370," she said.

"People had a lot of hope in Ghulam Nabi Azad regarding the restoration of Article 370, but he has stated that Article 370 will never come back which is unfortunate and he shouldn't have said this," he said.

Earlier, the PDP chief said that still there are voices in Jammu and Kashmir who believe Article 370 will be restored.' "It's his ( Azad) personal opinion...Congress had raised its voice against the British and stopped them. Similarly, there are voices in J&K who believe 370 will be restored," Mufti said.

Notably, former Congress leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad, during a rally in Kashmir's Baramulla yesterday Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "To restore Article 370 would need around 350 votes in the Lok Sabha and 175 votes in the Rajya Sabha. This is a number no political party has or is likely to ever get."(KNS).
