Awareness program under Eat Right Srinagar held at Hotel Lalarukh

Srinagar, Dec 24 (KNS): An awareness program under Eat Right Srinagar was held with the milk vendors of District Srinagar in collaboration with Sheergojri Welfare Forum at Hotel Lalarukh. 

The vendors were sensitized regarding supply of pure and wholesome milk to the consumers of Srinagar city. They were directed to have an written agreement with their milk suppliers so that in the event of their milk found not of standard quality the supplier is made responsible before the competent court.

They were further directed to use only Food grade containers for processing and storage of milk and discard immediately all non-food grade utensils particularly those made of non-food grade plastic material. They were also sensitized regarding the hygienic requirements of Food Safety and Standards Act and were directed to follow all these rules and regulations. 

Those vendors who have not obtained license/registration certificates under FSS Act were directed to do so within two days. The office bearers of Sheergojri Welfare Forum assured their full support in ensuring safe and wholesome milk to the consumers and appreciated the role of department in organizing this awareness program. 

Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar, Food Analyst Kashmir, Food Safety Officers of District Srinagar and president of the Association spoke on this occasion.

Meanwhile the Auditing team of Food Safety & Standards Authority Of India is conducting Hygiene ratings of various Food establishments particularly of Hotels, restaurants and bakers. 

It is as such impressed upon all the Food Business Operators to maintain high standards of Hygiene within their premises otherwise action under rules shall be initiated against them. (KNS)
