Avoid felling of trees during eviction drive: DC Kupwara directs officers

Kupwara, Feb 04 (KNS): Deputy Kupwara Dr Difodae Sagar has directed the officers to avoid felling of trees while retrieving land from encroachers and that it should be done only in case of emergency or absolute necessity. 


According an order, a copy of which lies with news agency KNS the deputy commissioner has stated that all Tehsildars while retrieving Kahcharai or State land from illegal encroachers, felling of fruit and non-fruit bearing trees be avoided as far as possible and should be done only in emergency or absolute necessity.

The order reads a proposal be submitted to his office for transfer of State and Kahcharai Land, which was used by encroachers for Horticulture purposes to Horticulture Department and that used for tree plantation be handed over to Social Forestry Department for its proper protection and development.

“A proposal for transfer of State Land retrieved in towns and villages to various departments be also submitted to his office,“ it reads. (KNS)
