Appeal DC Kupwara to personally intervene into the matter

Handwara, Nov 23 (KNS): The residents of Audoora village of Qalamabad in Handwara area of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday alleged favouritism by the local Gram Sabha in making development plans.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), they said that every year Gram Sabha takes place and development plans are being shared with Gram Sabha members, however, the works which are being discussed during the Sabha are never carried out.

They said that the people who make these plans carry out these works as per their wish, while genuine issues are ignored.

The residents also said that the village is located on the banks of Nallah Mawer and every year floods pose a threat to the village as there was an immediate need for construction of embankment but due to some unknown reasons no plan is executed for the same.

They said that works for Nallah Mawer were approved at the district level as well as at block level, however, these works have been stopped by Panchayat secretary and Panchayat members for reasons best known to them.

Meanwhile, they appealed to the deputy commissioner Kupwara to look into the matter personally and help resolve their genuine grievances. (KNS)
