ASI of CISF killed, four security forces personnel injured in Jammu encounter

Srinagar, Apr 22 (KNS): An ASI of CISF was killed while four other security forces personnel  including two cops and as many CISF jawans in the ongoing encounter in Sunjwan area of Jammu.

 
Talking to reporters at the encounter site, ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh said that following inputs that militants were planning some activity in the area, a cordon and search operation was launched in Sunjwan area of Jammu.
 
“Cordon party was fired upon in the wee hours, in which one security forces personnel got martyred while four others were injured. Encounter is going on and further details will be shared later,” he said.
 
He added that it seems militants have taken shelter in a house and search will be launched after first light in the morning.
 
Meanwhile, an official said that the injured security forces personnel have been evacuated to GMC Jammu for treatment.
 
Earlier, in the wee hours today an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Sunjwan area of Jammu.
 
Notably, encounter has taken place at a time when PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Samba district of Jammu division after two days. 
 
Security was already beefed up across Jammu in view of the planned visit of PM Modi to Samba on Sunday. (KNS)
