SRINAGAR, Oct 7 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party provincial president Kashmir Ashraf Mir on Wednesday expressed concern over the delay in announcing a holiday in Kashmir Province on the occasion of the Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani (RA).
In a statement issued, Mir said the administration should take a timely decision on the holiday, considering the religious, spiritual and cultural significance of the occasion and its observance as an annual tradition.
He said the delay had created uncertainty among government employees, students, educational institutions and the general public across Kashmir.
“It is deeply unfortunate that the government has yet to provide clarity on such an important occasion.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWhen the date is known in advance and the observance follows an established tradition, there should be no reason for delaying a decision,” Mir said.
He urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to immediately clarify and notify the holiday for Kashmir Province, saying the sentiments and long-standing traditions of the people should be respected.
Mir said the Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani, popularly known as Alamdar-e-Kashmir, represents the region's spiritual and cultural heritage and deserves due recognition and administrative sensitivity.(KNS)
