Army holds anti-plastic awareness drive in Mawar Valley

Handwara, Nov 29 (KNS): Realizing the importance of banning plastic and its use along with the lack of awareness among the villagers, the children of Mawar Valley along with the Indian Army held an awareness drive in Reshwari and Potwari villages of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that under the guidance of Naugam Brigade, the children educated the villagers about harmful effects of plastic and alternative ways which can be used.

"Various methods to reduce, reuse and recycle were iterated to the villagers. A drawing competition was also conducted by the Army to impart awareness on plastic reduction among the children," reads the statement.

It reads that the drive was aimed to save the environment from the degrading effect of over use of harmful plastics. "A question-answer session after the lecture was also organized to cater the queries in the minds of villagers. The agenda of drive was well appreciated by the villagers," it reads. (KNS)
