Start dialogue with J&K people, hold ULB and Panchayat Polls without further delay, ensure employment to youth: Ghulam Hassan Mir urges centre government

Srinagar, July 15 (KNS):  Apni Paerty Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir urged New Delhi to engage with the people of Jammu and Kashmir to address their issues. He also demanded immediate holding of ULB and Panchayat polls in J&K and urged the government to make imitative so ensure employment opportunities for the youth in J&K.

He made these demands today while addressing party workers’ convention in Baramulla.

He expressed his disappointment over the way Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited the martyrs' graveyard a day after Martyrs' Day.

He said, “we condemn the way police tried to stop Chief Minister at the graveyard but he too should have not have gone there this way. He should have done so with the dignity befitting the office of the Chief Minister, accompanied by divisional and district-level administrative officers.”

On the government’s failures to deliver a good governance, Mir said, “The ruling party has not only failed to provide effective governance, but its inability to fulfil its promises has also become evident, even after nine months in power. Unfortunately, the BJP has also failed to play its role as an opposition party. It appears that both the ruling and opposition parties are hand in glove with each other. Neither of them seems concerned about the pressing issues and grievances of the public.”

Addressing the occasion, senior leader and Chairman of the party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC), Mohammad Dilawar Mir, said that if the government continues to ignore pressing public issues, it will completely lose its credibility. He said, “During the election campaign, Omar Abdullah removed his cap and pleaded with the people for votes, saying that his honour was in their hands. They respected his appeal and elected him and his party. But what has he done over the past nine months? If this government continues to ignore public issues, it will completely lose its credibility.”

“The LG has openly clarified that only the police is under his authority, while the rest lies under the elected government’s command. Then why doesn’t this government deliver effective governance? Remember, you will automatically lose your government if you do not fulfil your promises, deliver good governance, and address the people's issues and grievances—because in a democratic system, the people are the ultimate masters,” Dilawar Mir added.

He accused the government for punishing its opponents.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said, “Employees — even casual labourers and Class IV employees — are being transferred from places like Sopore, Rafiabad, and Tangmarg to remote areas such as Gurez and Karnah, simply because they did not support the ruling party during the elections. This is how the government is punishing its opponents, even if they are low-ranking employees.”

Addressing the convention, the party’s Provincial President, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, said that “this workers’ meeting is part of a series of conventions aimed at strengthening the party cadre at the grassroots level across all districts.”

He expressed his grave concern over the “growing unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir” and accused the government of failing to make any efforts to address this issue and other problems faced by the people.

Speaking on the occasion, the President of the party’s Youth Wing, Yawar Mir, voiced deep concern over the Central Administrative Tribunal’s decision to halt the implementation of the government order that mandated Urdu as a compulsory requirement for candidates applying to the post of Naib Tehsildar in Jammu and Kashmir.

“How can Urdu not be a mandatory requirement for aspirants to the post of Naib Tehsildar when the entire revenue record in Kashmir is maintained in the Urdu language?” Yawar asked.

He accused the government of failing to address public issues. He said, “Farmers are suffering as their crops are being destroyed due to the lack of proper irrigation facilities. The government is failing to provide irrigation pumps — which cost only around Rs 5 lakh each — to farmers in various areas, while the same government spends crores on purchasing vehicles for its leaders. This reflects just how pathetic the situation has become.”

The prominent party leaders and senior workers who also addressed the convention or who were present on the occasion, included District President Baramulla Shabir Ahmad Shah, Provincial Secretary Aftab Baigh, District Vice President Noor-ul Aman, District Vice President Abdul Majeed Bhat, District Vice President Mehmood Bukhari, party in-charge for the Uri constituency, Choudhary Mushtaq, Constituency In-charge Sopre Ghulam Mohammad War, Constituency In-charge Pattan Riyaz Ahmad, DDC member Shabir Ahmad Lone, DDC member Rafiabad Permeet Kour, DDC Tangmarg Adv Tajamul Ishfaq, and others.
