Srinagar November 05 (KNS): Apni Party has hailed the government for conceding the long pending demand of granting Scheduled Tribes (ST) status to the Pahari community.  

Pertinently, the Registrar General of India (RGI) and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) sealed the recommendations of the three-member Backward Class Commission to include the tribe in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category.

In a statement issued here, Apni Party has said, “Finally, the years of struggle by the Pahari community has yielded results and the government conceded the long-pending demand of granting the ST status to the community.”

The statement added, “Apni Party extended greetings to the Pahari community for their success to achieve the ST status that it undoubtedly deserved.”

 

The party has hoped the ST status to the Pahari community will enable the Pahari population, especially the youngsters to have the benefits of the ST status and will help to ensure the prosperity and development of the community. Apni Party hopes that the Pahari community’s inclusion in the ST list will not harm the interests of the other communities.(KNS)
