APHC condemns use of 'force' against families of slain civilians demanding return of their bodies

Srinagar, Nov 18 (KNS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Thursday condemned the "forcible" removal of family members of two slain civilians, who were protesting at press enclave Srinagar to demand the return of the bodies of the slain kins, who were killed in an encounter in Hyderpora area on Monday evening.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the APHC has called upon the people to observe shutdown on Friday on their own to show solidarity with the families of two civilians and demanding the return of their bodies.

APHC said that the families have been pleading and begging to the authorities to at least return the bodies of their loved ones and the use of force against them is highly condemnable.

"The manner in which the elder brother of slain Altaf Bhat and other family members are being forcibly dragged by the forces and huddled into police vehicles to prevent them even from demanding the dead bodies of their loved ones for burial is unbelievably inhuman," APHC said.

APHC also said that it regrets that as most of the leadership and political activists are either in jails or under house detention, to protest such inhumanity, and in solidarity with the families of the slain civilians and their demand to return the bodies of their loved for burial, people should observe a shut down on Friday, on their own.
