Srinagar, Oct 12 (KNS): An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Feerpora village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said here. 

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a joint team of forces laid cordon in the area following inputs about the presence of militants.

He said that as the militants zeroed in on the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated. 

The official said that firing is going on from both the sides, while further details will be shared later. 

Pertinently, three militants were killed in Shopian late last night in an encounter in Imamsahab area of the district. (KNS)
