Srinagar, May 12 (KNS); In a significant statement welcoming diplomatic progress in South Asia, Awami National Conference chief Begum Khalida Shah has expressed strong support for the recent ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, brokered through the intervention of U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a statement issued to KNS, Begum Khalida Shah alongwith Senior Vice President Muzzafar Shah and party cadres paid homage to victims of border hostilities & 26 innocents of the Pahalgam tragedy,offering floral tributes to those who lost their lives due to artillery exchanges along the frontier regions.
“Dialogue remains the sole pathway to conflict resolution," Begum Khalida emphasized, urging both nuclear powers to "prioritize peace and regional stability through mutual understanding and sustained diplomatic engagement."

In a call for inclusive political process following the ceasefire, Begum Khalida reiterated her demand for a comprehensive Prime Minister-led all-party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir, stating this remains "absolutely imperative" in the aftermath of recent border escalations.
She underscored the necessity of engaging local stakeholders to advance the dialogue process and pressed for the immediate restoration of statehood to J&K & honouring Constitutional guarantees.
The Awami National Conference's stance aligns with growing regional sentiment favoring diplomatic solutions over military confrontation, as the ceasefire brings renewed hope for normalization of relations between the neighboring countries. (KNS)
