Ananthnag, Mar 12 (KNS) : A senior leader of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) on Thursday condemned the firing incident targeting party president Dr Farooq Abdullah in Jammu, describing it as a "barbaric and cowardly act" and demanding a thorough investigation.
Altaf Ahmad Kalu, the District President of NC Anantnag and MLA from Pahalgam in a statement issued to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the incident occurred while Dr. Abdullah was attending a marriage ceremony in Jammu. MLA Kalu stated that he had personally spoken to the NC president following the incident and was informed that he was safe.
"Dr. Farooq Abdullah lives in the hearts of the people.

He urged the authorities to conduct a comprehensive probe to identify the culprits and book them under the law. Mr. Kalu also asserted that the entire party leadership stands firmly with Dr. Abdullah in this hour of concern.
Several other senior party functionaries, including Abdul Majid Larmi, Riyaz Ahmad Khan, Bashir Ahmad Veeri, and Zaffar Chowdhary, also condemned the incident and reiterated the party's commitment to democratic values. They called on the administration to take strict action against those responsible. (KNS)
