Amar Singh College joins the "Athwass" Initiative at SKICC Srinagar

Srinagar April 11:(KNS)  The NSS volunteers and NCC cadets of Amar Singh College participated in the "Athwass" Initiative of Hon'ble LG at SKICC Srinagar. ‘Athwass’, a unique partnership between citizens and authorities for the rejuvenation of Srinagar’s iconic Dal Lake was flagged off by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on 9th April, 2022. 

A group of as many as 50 students accompanied by NSS programme officer, Dr. Syed Ishfaq Manzoor and Associate NCC Officer, Dr. Syed Mutahar Aaqib was flagged off by the principal of the college, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather and Secretary Sports, Cluster University Srinagar, Prof. Tariq Ashai. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Hon'ble LG Shri Manoj Sinha, stressed on the effective community participation to develop and conserve ecological heritage, the Lt Governor said that de-weeding and dredging will be conducted in collaboration with the citizens and educational institutions. 
 
Earlier,  while flagging off the college bus, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather enjoined upon the volunteers to devout their time and efforts for the cleanliness of the water bodies and their surrounding. Prof. Rather informed that during this year college has planted almost 800 samplings in the college campus and that the college has taken a number of initiatives towards creating a clean and green campus.
