Ahead of Amit Shah’s visit security beefed up across J&K: Officials

Srinagar, Oct 22 (KNS): Ahead of the visit of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah security has been beefed up across the Jammu and Kashmir to thwart any untoward incident, officials said here on Friday.

Official sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that security has been beefed up across Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar city in view of Amit Shah’s 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

They said that naka points and barricades have been installed at major locations across the Kashmir valley, while at several places frisking and checking of vehicle was also being done.

Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir for three days from tomorrow.

As per sources, he is scheduled to address a public rally in Jammu and is also likely to chair a security review meeting following the recent civilian killings in Kashmir over the past few weeks.

Meanwhile, sources said that security forces have installer bunkers at major locations across the Srinagar city in view of the security situation arising out of the recent civilian killings.

Meanwhile, in view of Amit Shah’s visit Srinagar City Traffic police has said that the Boulevard Road from Badyari to Nishat and Gupkar Road will remain closed for general traffic from 23rd to 25th October.

In an advisory, city traffic police has said that in connection with visit of VVIP from 23rd to 25th October, the Boulevard road from Badyari to Nishat and Gupkar will remain closed.

The advisory reads that the motorists are requested to opt for Foreshore-Habak-Hazratbal route or Tailbal - Zakoora Hazratbal route and Badyari-Hazratbal route for return journey.

It reads that the tourists shall be allowed up to Nehru Park after proper verification of their places of stay.

The advisory further reads that the route for medical emergencies shall be decided on spot. (KNS)
