We don't support encroachers but we have our concerns: Mushtaq Chaya

Srinagar, Dec 12 (KNS): Days after administration demolished the encroachments in Gulmarg on court directions, DDC Baramulla today said a committee would hear the concerns of hoteliers and would like to take everyone on board.

Speaking duirng a meeting with hoteliers in Gulmarg, he said, "We have started reconciliation process. Some record has been with revenue department and some is with Gulmarg Development authority. Whatever we will do, stakeholders would be taken onboard after checking all the records and would be accordingly certified. They can present their view point and every right for their defence according to the law," he said.
However he said encroachment won't be tolerated, " we will convey your concerns to the Government and it gives me pleasure to know that hoteliers and Government are on same page regarding illegal encroachment"
We have formed a committee to verify the documents and hoteliers can raise their concerns supported by documents with them, he said.
President Hoteliers Club Mushtaq Ahmed Chaya spoke to reporters after the meeting, he said, "We are not supporting land encroachers. But we suggest the Govt if someone will beautify the place infront of his hotel for tourists and uses it as lawn, he should be allowed. Government can eract the GDA board on the land also. Everyone knows who is a genuine hotelier and who is not. Every hotel here is on lease, may be lease of some has expired. There is no violation of court directions. Only those bring material here who are authorised by Government.
He appreciated the DC Baramulla for holding a meeting with his officers for improving facilities in Gulmarg and listening to the concerns of the hoteliers.(KNS)
