Says any Covid variant can be defeated if people take precautions; ‘No Omicron variant detected in Kashmir so far’

Kupwara, Dec 08 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner P K Pole on Wednesday said that the administration is fully prepared to tackle new Covid-19 variant Omicron and it can defeated if people take precautions.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) on the sidelines of a program at Warnov area of Lolab, Pole said that administration can overcome the virus efficiently only by the cooperation of the people.

He appealed to the people to wear face masks, avoid gatherings and use sanitisers. “If we make masks a part of our costumes, then definitely all the variants of COVID19 can be defeated. Masks are the safety for ourselves first and then for the people around,” he added.

He also said that the administration has taken all the precautions and measures at Srinagar International Airport in the wake of new Covid variant.

“RT-PCR testing is done for the international travellers for the last one week, during which 3 to 4 positive cases have been detected, however, no case of Omicron variant has been detected so far,” he said.

Notably, divisional commissioner Kashmir, P K Pole was on a visit to Lolab to attend a public devas programme. (KNS)
