srinagar 13 february (KNS): Transport issues of Phaak area discussed in a meeting today under the chairmanship of Mr Syed Hanief Balkhi Additional DC Srinagar. Various issues related to public transport in Srinagar espacially in Phaak area were discussed in the meeting.

 Transporters brought to the notice of the ADC several suggestions to decongest traffic on some critical routes and also induction of some new technologies in urban transport. They demanded space in Lal-Chowk area or in the vicinity for Sumo stand.

The deputation demanded plying of transport facility in the peak hours and providing transport facilities from Brane to Hazratbal, Harwan to Soura and Shalimar to Ganderbal.

ADC assured the deputation that their suggestions would be taken into consideration while formulating policies on urban transport. He also assured them to look into the problems raised by them considerately. RTO Kashmir, GM SRTC, Tehsildar Hazratbal, SHO Harwan and other officers attended the meeting.

The Phaak deputation was headed by Prof G A Bhat, Dr G M Rather, Peer Bilal and Parviez Dar. Representatives of various transport associations also attended the meet.(KNS)
