Reasi, July 05 (KNS): After a major strike on absconders, Reasi Police in continuation its drive against absconders who are evading arrests since years, on Monday arrested another absconder, evading arrests since 2019. 

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that the accused identified as Mohammad Ashiq son of Mohammad Shafi, resident of Channa area of Reasi was absconding in a case FIR no 28/2014 U/S 420/467/468/RPC of Police Station Chassana.

“A case was proved during investigation and challaned in the court of law. To avoid conviction accused jumped trial proceedings by going underground abd couldn’t be apprehended since 2019. The accused dodged the police by disguising his appearance,” the statement reads. 

It reads that a general warrant of arrest under section 512 CrPC was issued by Hon'ble court of Session Judge Reasi against the accused in 2019.

“Police Station Reasi traced the accused and arrested him from Sungri area of Chassana.”

It reads that the accused is a habitual offender and also remained involved in four other cases 

“Team Reasi remained successful in nabbing the criminals who are evading their arrests since years and against whom General Warrants of Arrest are issued by Hon’ble Courts were pending. This is the arrest of 41st absconder by Reasi Police since April 2021,” reads the statement. (KNS)
