Baramulla, Oct 02 (KNS): Directorate of local bodies Kashmir Monday organised the culmination function of ” Swachta Hi sewa” campaign in district Baramulla highlighting the importance of cleanliness . The functions were held at Baramulla, Sopore ,Patten, Gulmarg and other areas.
Director Local Bodies Riyaz Ahamd Wani attended some functions in the district before interacting with locals and representatives of various trade and other bodies in Sopore town. The director during his interaction announced that ULB would be installing more the three hundred street lights in the Sopore town in order to ensure hassle free late evening movement on the streets.
Director Local Bodies Riyaz Ahamd Wani said that the Sopore residents put forth many demands that included drainage, upgradation , develooemnt of dumping site and raising of shopping centres.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe said while directions with regard to some demands were issued on spot, the other demands would be submitted to government for consideration.
Meanwhile Beopar Mandal President Haji Mohammad Ashraf said that during their interaction with director they expressed their anguish over sluggish progress of the MC and demanded that a comprehensive plan of Developemnt be adopted. He said they raised many issues including non availability of street lights, public toilets , poor sanitation and drainage system and absence of other basic civic facilities in the town.
The Director has assured delegations of all possible help and said the street lights would be installed in the town very soon. Many workers of the Muncipality and other officials were rewarded for their contributation during the “Swachta Hi Sewa” Campaign. (KNS)
