Srinagar, May 01 (KNS): At a time when the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan is on a state visit to India, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed hope that Turkey being an important Islamic country and having cordial relations both with India and Pakistan, the President of Turkey will make efforts to end the political uncertainly prevalent in the region since decades.
While welcoming the statement of Erodgan, wherein he stated Turkey was ready to play a role to solve the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan, Mirwaiz said the Turkish president was well aware that how Kashmir dispute was the main source of tension between the two nations.
In a statement issued to KNS, Mirwaiz said being an active member of Kashmir Contact Group at OIC, Turkey which has always advocated the solution of Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Kashmir can play a vital role in the resolution of this issue to end the tension in this region.
Asserting that Kashmiris have always longed for good relations between India and Pakistan, Hurriyat (M) Chairman said, however, it was also the historical reality that due to lingering Kashmir dispute, two nations have adopted confrontational policy against each other, and fought three wars over Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
At a time when Turkey and India seem to come closer, Hurriyat (M) Chairman said Turkey can act in an imaginative way in bringing both India and Pakistan near to find an honorable and just solution of Kashmir issue.
Mirwaiz said the lingering Kashmir dispute was a lurking danger for the South Asia region, adding, both the nuclear armed neighbors have tense relations due to the Kashmir dispute. As such, Mirwaiz stated that Turkey’s efforts can result in bringing back India and Pakistan on table and solve the Kashmir issue to bring Kashmiris out of the life of suffering and miseries.
Meanwhile Hurriyat Conference (M) has expressed serious concern over the killing of a civilian Ghulam Muhammad Khan of Ilahi Bagh Buchpora in a grenade attack at Khanyar. Hurriyat has condemned the government forces action on students in Pulwama and termed it as completely un-democratic and without any justification. (KNS)
