Govt putting peoples’ lives in danger through unreliable COVID testing: Kadfeen

Srinagar August 13:(KNS) Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Thursday has urged the Lt Governor to intervene into the disturbing reports about the ruthless use of Rapid Antigen Testing which is reportedly putting peoples’ lives in danger.

He said in spite of the fact that Rapid Antigen Testing is far less accurate, it is being used widely by the government in order to lessen the burden on the hospitals and give the impression that all is well within the control.

He said that as per the latest guidelines of Indian Council of Medical Research (IMCR) those who test negative for COVID-19 by rapid antigen test should be definitely tested sequentially by RT-PCR to rule out infection, whereas a positive test should be considered as a true positive and does not need reconfirmation by RT-PCR test.

However, said Kadfeen the government is only relying on Rapid Antigen Testing and giving damn to RT-PCR testing. “It is akin to putting peoples’ lives at risk. The precious lives of Kashmiris aren’t that much cheaper they could be left in a lurch with absolutely no care. In order to cover its blunders and inefficacies, the government is relying on Rapid Antigen Testing. J&K was leading in month May and June in the entire country in RT-PCR testing and since that time they have relied on Rapid Antigen Testing, numbers have risen like anything because these tests aren’t reliable at all and infected people aren’t detected through the process which exposes other people to greater hazards. The states like Bhopal, Rajasthan and even country’s capital Delhi is ruing over the sequential RT PCR not happening. Stoic mutism by Jammu and Kashmir authorities is flagitious utterly,” said Kadfeen.

He demanded the government must intervene at an earliest so that peoples’ lives aren’t put at risk any further and pre-emptive measures are taken to stop the crises from turning apocalyptic.(KNS)
