50 Years of 1971 War: Swarnim Vijay Mashal welcomed at Bandipora 

Bandipora, June 23 (KNS); To commemorate 50 years of victory of Indian Armed Forces in 1971 Indo- Pakistan war, year 2021 is being celebrated as Swarnim Vijay Varsh and nationwide celebration have been planned during the year.

In a statement to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that the journey of Swarnim Vijay Mashal in 15 Corps Zone commenced on 15 Jun 2021 from Jawahar Tunnel. 

“The victory flame arrived in Bandipora on 23 Jun 2021 and was welcomed at Sonarwain garrison by Commandimg officer, Bandipora RR.”

It said that enroute to Bandipora, the victory flame was paraded through Bandipora town in a grand procession. “The victory flame also made a halt on the scenic banks of Wular lake.”

“Arrival of victory flame in Bandipora was welcomed warmly by locals who stood along the road and showered petals as the Victory flame passed by. The flame was escorted by a marching contingent of Bandipora RR, CRPF, NCC Cadets, Scouts and Guides and JKP Band filling the atmosphere with nationalist pride.”

As per the statement, in addition to Army personnel, DC Bandipora, SSP Bandipora, Commanding Officer, 3rd Battalion CRPF, Commandant CISF and a large number of ex-servicemen and other notable civil dignitaries were also present to honor the Victory Flame.

“A Wreath laying ceremony followed by  musical performance paying tribute to martyrs was organised at Sonarwain.”

The statement reads that the event culminated with enthusiasm filled singing of National Anthem and chants of Bharat Mata ki Jai. “The victory flame was then escorted for its onward journey to Manasbal Garrison.” (KNS)
