5 shops gutted, house damaged in massive fire in Handwara village

Kupwara, April 26 (KNS): AT least five shops were gutted while a residential house was damaged in a massive fire in Qalamabad area of Handwara in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesyda. 


An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that the fire broke out from a residential house and quickly spread to a nearby shopping complex in Qalamabad area. 

He said soon after the incident officials from Fire and Emergency Department, police, army and locals reached to the spot to douse off the flames. 

Before the fire could be put off, five shops were gutted and a residential house was also damaged. 
 
In the fire incident, the property of worth lakhs turned into ashes

Meanwhile, chairman Jamia Masjid Qalamabad, locals thanked, Handwara police, local administration, and Army' for their timely assistance. 

However they criticized the local unit of Fire and Emergency Department for not performing their duty properly. (KNS)
