Doctors say this was first of its kind surgery

Handwara, Aug 27 (KNS): In a first of its kind in North Kashmir, doctors at a Nursing Home in Handwara operated upon a 30-year-old patient and removed three kilogram cyst from her uterus.

Dr Mushtaq Zargar (MD) told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that similar surgeries are being conducted in most of the hospitals of Jammu Kashmir, but this was a different case.

“Since the cyst was 17 cm inside the Uterus and the patient has already a surgery (LSCS) 6 months before, but with God's grace they were successful to operate on the patient,” he said.

He said that the surgery was very complicated and involved a lot of risk and complications as the patient could have lost fertilization during the procedure, but they were successful in all fronts.

“Though, there have been few cases elsewhere also, but it is the first case of its kind which has been detected and successfully removed in this area,” he said, adding the cyst of this size is also very rare.

Notably, the surgery was conducted at North Kashmir Nursing home under the overall supervision of Dr Mushtaq Zargar (MD)

The patient after undergoing a two hour long surgery, according to the doctors, was recovering well. (KNS)
