Kupwara, January 15 (KNS): To boost the tourism sector, the much awaited three day winter carnival to begin on 27 January in Drungyari in the North Kashmir's Kupwara district. 


TP Drungyari Kupwara a famous tourist spot and gate way of Bangus has been identified as a prime location to throw open the three day event. 

An official said that the district has received much snowfall so far, and all the preparations have been taken to conclusion, however the administration has not finalized the date, but most probably, the three day event will begin on 27 January 2023

He also said that the SnowMobile, ice-skating, Snow-skating, monkey bridge, trekking expeditions, musical events and other snow sports activities will be the main attraction and part of this Winter Carnival which is seen as an opportunity by the local enthusiasts to learn, engage and explore.

First the first time Kupwara administration will bring All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) to Kupwara to explore the winter tourism. The district has massive tourism potential, thus administration is using all resources to attract the tourists to Kupwara, the official said.

He said that the winter carnival is the first of its kind to promote tourism and to revive and preserve the culture and heritage of this frontier district. 

Besides, it aims at reviving, promoting and preserving the tourism in the district, unique traditional games, culture and cuisine, especially the customs of the local population. (KNS)
