'Aradhana' organizes blood donation camp

Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): "Aradhana – A Ray of Hope (AAROH), a Jammu based NGO working primarily for the education and holistic development of underprivileged children, in association with GMC Jammu organized a blood donation camp on Sunday. The camp was set up in Bahu Plaza area from 11 am to 2 pm. Over 50 people supported the campaign by coming forward and donating blood.

While AAROH members facilitated the process, kids being tutored by AAROH gave moral support to the donors and at times, explained the importance of such events to the passers-by. Donors were provided with juice and fruits.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Monika Mitter, Founder and Chairperson of AAROH shed light on how the problem of blood shortage has worsened since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic and besides the primary objective of collecting blood to be readily available with the hospitals in case of emergencies, this event is also an awareness campaign for the local population of Jammu region as extensive campaigning was done in the pre-camp phase in which various tools were used to make people understand the importance of blood donation not just for the ultimate receiver or society in general but also for the donor. Some of the many surprising benefits of donating blood are that it stimulates cell production, reduces risk of heart attack and cancer, burns calories, helps in weight loss etc.

AAROH members present during the event were Shivam Gupta, Nishu khajuria, Inder Bandral, Deepak Anand, Varun Arora, Paramveer Singh, Satish Mehra, Sunil, Harsh Malhotra, Amit Bajotra, Vikas Bhadoria, Deewan, Sarvesh Langer, Taniya Bazaz,  Simran Kour, Karanveer Singh, Aastha Gandotra,  Swati Gandral, Rashi Gandral, Akanksha Attri, Anurag Arora and Devansh Anand."
