“Party has lost relevance in J&K”: Congress’ Pulwama district president resigns

Srinagar, April 07 (KNS): Congress’ district president from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has resigned from post and basic membership of the party, stating that the party has lost relevance in Jammu and Kashmir.

In his resignation letter, a copy of which is in possession of Kashmir News Service (KNS), Congress Committee district president Umer Jaan has stated that the Congress has lost relevance after the abrogation of the special status because of its obscure stand on Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated that the party has failed to put forward its vision and policies regarding Jammu and Kashmir.

Jaan said that the party seemed more interested in raising the issues of central leadership and ignoring the problems faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

"I must thank every member of the party who stood by my side in my journey with Indian National Congress and I wish every member of the party best in future and hope they can change the policies for the betterment of people of India and in particular the people of J&K,” he said. (KNS)
