Zulfkar urges union Government to include Gojri and Pahari languages in the proposed legislation


Srinagar September :(KNS) Former Minister and Vice president Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali urged Union Government to include Gojri and Pahari languages in the proposed legislation of official languages in the state as these languages are spoken across in the state and even in the neighbouring states like HP and Punjab.

Union cabinet on wednesday, 2 september approved Jammu and Kashmir official languages bill 2020. Union minister Prakash Javadekar siad Kashmiri, Urdu, Dogri , Hindi and English to be official languages in jammu and kashmir under new bill approved by the cabinet.

Javadekar said this has been done based on public demand.

Zulfkar mentioned thay “Several researchers and historians have already said that the Gojri language is the mother of Rajasthani, Gujrati, Urdu and Haryanvi Languages,” He added

Zulfkar said it is the aspiration of millions of people that due credit should be given to this ancient languages that is serving their motherland for centuries.

A good chunk of Gojri and Pahari speaking people are living in J&K And as per 2011 census third largest population of Jammu and Kashmir is Gojri speaking.

He said Gojri and Pahari are very rich in term of literature and folk-lore and hundreds of books are available in Gojri on different subjects.(KNS)
