Seeks exemplary punishment for accused and adequate compensation for the families

Rajouri, Oct 3 (KNS): Apni Party Vice President and Former Minister Choudhary Zulfikar Ali has hailed the decision of Govt to hand-over bodies of three Rajouri youth who were killed in a fake encounter in Shopian.
“The exhumation of three bodies of the youth and fair investigation will restore confidence of the people in the Govt and in its justice system,” said Apni Party’s Vice President Choudhary Zulfikar Ali in a press statement.
In a statement issued to KNS, Zulfikar said “The justice to the victim families will not be complete until the accused are punished and delivering justice will also work as deterrence for the elements in the forces so that they do not repeat such incidents.”
He said that the families of the victims should be duly compensated and each of the family members should be given a Govt job because they have lost their lone income earners.
The decision of the Govt to handover bodies to the respective families of the deceased youth from Rajouri will restore credibility, he said, adding that the Govt should order transparent investigation in past fake encounters across Jammu and Kashmir in the same manner.
If investigations are carried out without bias, he said, these probes will expose the black sheeps within the forces and restore the confidence of the general public since it will bring them close to the security forces and the Govt.
“It will help the Govt to win the confidence of the people and elements trying to disturb peace will never succeed in creating problems,” said the Former Minister.
He said that the poor families send their children for work in Kashmir Valley from Rajouri and Poonch and other districts of the Jammu region. “The protection of their lives is the responsibility of the security agencies especially local police of the respective police stations. They should ensure safety and security of the lives of the youth from Pirpanjal and should not be victimized anymore,” he said.
He warned that these incidents will add more troubles and it should be avoided.
“The youth from Rajouri and Poonch have joined Indian Army and they have their active role in neutralizing militancy by putting their own and their families’ lives in danger. They are known for their nationalism. Any incident in future will damage the work of the forces done in the past. The Govt should ensure the accused in the fake encounter of Shopian should be dismissed from the service and punished strictly,” he added.
It may be recalled here that on July 18, three youth from Rajouri were killed in a fake encounter in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
