Dal Cries and we Turn Deaf! Why?

It is not government only which needs to be waken up but general public also has a moral responsibility for saving Dal, comments Mansoor Ali

Kashmir is often called as ‘Paradise on Earth’ due to its natural beauty. There are number of tourist destinations in Kashmir valley which attracts the tourist flow, to the extent that they do not want to go back from Kashmir. One of the major attractions is the famous Dal Lake situated in the heart of Kashmir called as Srinagar. This famous lake is one of the largest lakes in the world.
Dal Lake was more beautiful a few years ago. It looks more beautiful especially when lotus flowers and leaves with droplets of water on them, which gives an appearance of pearls glittering in the lake. In the middle of the lake there is a tiny island called as Char Chinar (which means four chinars) but unfortunately there are only three left now.
But now this beautiful lake is on the verge of extinction. The death is certain if adequate efforts for its conservation are not being taken. Government is only busy inaugurating parks and gardens. It pays no attention towards the dying lake. Government is turning a blind eye to this issue. There are residential colonies inside the Dal Lake. On the banks of the lake, surrounded by waste materials and garbage! If government will not move its feet, the day is not far when it will be vanished.
If Kashmir has to develop Dal, preservation should be on first priority. It is our heritage in water bodies. To preserve the lake public has to take some appropriate steps, by being mute spectators we should not accept miracles from government. Nothing will be done through slogans; the whole Kashmir should come forward for its preservation. For economic development of Kashmir also preservation of Dal should prove beneficial. Dal Lake is the biggest avenue in tourism for Kashmir government.
This is the time to wake up and to take steps for its preservation. If really we have to preserve it, general public has to play a big role in it. By blaming government nothing will happen. People should take it as a real concern of worry. A mass campaign should be started for its preservation; otherwise the days are numbered for Dal. Our upcoming generations will otherwise whine “once upon a time there was a lake in Srinagar called Dal Lake” and will read about it in books only.

Media and society share a common denominator, what former proffers is simultaneously reflected in the latter”

Right from the early journalistic efforts of world’s first newspaper ‘Acta Diurna’ (Daily Events) of ancient Rome to present day plethora of dailies, Press or better-called Media has come a long way.

While New Delhi’s population tried to escape from a 40ºC heat by slipping into air-conditioned shopping centers some 400 miles to the southeast, we gazed upon a cold drizzle through the open third floor window of a building without energy in the middle of Srinagar,

Human Dignity vs. Identity-A tale of a valley in distress!

Kashmir, a disputed area on the map of the world, is being constantly ruined by the most dragged term here ‘Dialogue’. Once called as the ‘Paradise on Earth’- the vale has more to render in terms of innocent killings, human rights violations and violence. There was a time when Angels would fly over the sky but now demons have taken over.
