Youth injured in cross border shelling yet to receive help from administration; SDM says case forwarded to DC Kupwara

Srinagar, Sep, 19(KNS): The family of an 18-year old youth who was injured in cross border shelling in Kachareyain village of border town Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday alleged that he has been left on the mercy of God by the authorities.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), family of Rafaqat Ahmad Shah who was injured on August 7 this year after he received splinter injuries was evacuated to hospital for treatment where doctors suggested him for head surgery. They said family don’t have any source of income and the injured youth was the only bread earner in the family but the present condition of injured youth has left the entire family into trauma.
The family of Shah told so far they have spend more than one lakh on his treatment and have not received a single penny from the administration despite their several pleas to them.
“Earlier we have received Rs 10,000 from local army unit, besides assistance from local people but administration has kept deep silence over the matter”, family said.
They said doctors have suggested for early surgery but due to financial constraints they are unable to treat their family member.
Family, however, appealed district and UT administration to help them in saving the life of their son.

When KNS contacted SDM Karnah Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-din, he said the case has been sent to DC Kupwara and Rs 5,000 had also given to them when this incident took place. (KNS)
