Woman killed in cross-border shelling in Uri

Baramulla, June 12 (KNS): A 40 year old woman was killed while as another lady was injured in cross border shelling in Uri sector of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday , officials said.
Sources said heavy artillery shelling started in the afternoon. It was going on at the time of going to press.
“Pakistan violated the ceasefire in Uri sector and it was responded to by our troops effectively,” an official said.

According to officials, the deceased woman has been identified as Akther Begum 40 Wife of Zahoor Ahmad a resident of Bhatgran uri and she died of splinter injuries.

Local residents said people remain confined to their homes in the region. “Heavy shelling is going here from many hours and everyone is scared because of the situation,” a resident of Bhatgram area told KNS.
Meanwhile a SDPO Uri have also confirmed the killings of a women in cease fire violation (KNS)
