Why our pleas about to provide security being unheard: Congress

Srinagar, Dec 05 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committe (JKPCC) on Saturday said that Government is paying deaf ear over providing adequate security cover to our leaders as well as candidates amidst the ongoing DDC polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

Former minister and senior Congress leader, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed while addressing media persons said that amidst ongoing DDC polls Government has failed to provide security to party leaders as well as candidates fighting DDC polls in J&K.

Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, who was accompanied by JKPCC vice president G N Monga, said that the Congress leaders and DDC candidates are being deprived of the security, even the officials concerned don't bother to take their phone calls.

"Our lives are at risk. Yesterday in Sagam village of south Kashmir's Anantnag district, a DDC candidate was shot at and injured. Also in recent past several political activists lost their lives in militant attacks", Peerzada said.

He added that it is irony our phone calls are not being responded by officials which seems they have put our lives in a deliberate risk.

The Congress leader further added that those favoring India can't venture out without security in Kashmir as their lives are often under threat.

"Why our pleas about to provide security being unheard", he questioned. (KNS)
