Banihal, Feb 2 (KNS) : Former Minister and senior Congress leader Vikar Rasool Wani today demanded immediate restoration of suspended Banihal- Baramulla  train service which is suspended from 5th august 2019 .

According to a press release issued to KNS, Congress party workers held a protest demonstration headed by Vikar Rasool Wani at Railway station Banihal .

“They demanded immediate restoration of train services. During the protest Vikar Rasool Wani said the people of Banihal and passengers travelling on Jammu Srinagar highway are suffering badly due to the suspension of train services,” statement issued to KNS reads.

 He said that during the recent blockade of road resulted in death of two passengers from Kupwara near railway chock Banihal.

 Vikar Rasool said that “ if train service was permitted such accidents could  have been prevented. “

He said that maximum public transport and other services has been resumed after the covid - 19 lock down in Jammu and Kashmir but train services is still suspended due to unknown reasons.

He appealed JKUT administration for immediate restoration of Banihal-Baramulla train service so that local people, patients of the area and passengers travelling on highway don’t suffer.
