Chennai, May 10 (KNS): Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder C. Joseph Vijay on Sunday addressed the people after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and said his government would work for the welfare of the public and remain accountable to the people.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony in Chennai, Vijay said he considers himself an ordinary citizen who understands the problems faced by common people.

“I am not an angel. I am a common man. I know the pain and expectations of ordinary people because I come from among them,” Vijay said in his first speech as Chief Minister.

He thanked the people of Tamil Nadu for supporting his party in the Assembly elections and said his government would work on governance, social justice, employment, women’s safety and measures against drugs.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Vijay said there would be one power centre in the government and that he would remain responsible for the decisions taken by his administration.

“There will be only one power centre in this government, and I will take responsibility before the people,” he said.

Soon after taking charge, Vijay signed official orders related to 200 units of free electricity for households, formation of a task force against drugs and measures linked to women’s safety.

Vijay’s party, TVK, formed the government after emerging as the single largest party in the Assembly elections with the support of alliance partners.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Vijay after he assumed office and assured cooperation from the Centre for the development of Tamil Nadu.(KNS)
