Address grievances of casual workers, repatriate J&K employees from Ladakh UT: G. H Mir

Srinagar, September 8 (KNS): Apni Party (AP) senior vice president Ghulam Hassan Mir on Tuesday urged the J&K government to address the long pending demands of daily rated workers of different departments particularly ITI trained casual workers of Jal Shakti department. Mir also called for immediate repatriation of J&K’s higher secondary lecturers posted in various parts of Ladakh UT.

Earlier while interacting with the delegations of ITI trained workers of Jal Shakti department and higher secondary lecturers posted in Ladakh who had called on Mir at Apni Party office in Lal Chowk, the JKAP senior vice president assured them that the party will raise their genuine demands with the Lt. Governor led government at an earliest.

“ITI trained workers have long pending grievances including implementation of minimum wages act based on their skills and regularization on priority. These workers of the Department of Jal Shakti (PHE) are craving for redressal of their grievances since the last 14 years,” he observed.

Mir was informed that the ITI trained workers are technically trained workers having valid ITI certi?cates and have been working under various disciplines viz., Electrician, Plumber, Fitter in the Jal Shakti Department with full dedication and without any halt or break for the last 14 years.

The AP senior vice president pledged Party’s full support to them for highlighting their genuine demands before the authorities presently at the helm of affairs in J&K. Similarly, while interacting with the delegation of Lecturers posted in various higher secondary schools of Ladakh, Mir urged the J&K government to implement the modified version of the SRO 202 on these lecturers at an earliest.

“The reduced probation period (from five to two years) under this SRO 202 should be applied to these lecturers also. The government should also repatriate all employees of J&K including these lecturers who continue to be posted in Ladakh Union Territory despite submitting their options for postings to the General Administration Department within stipulated time period,” he demanded.

Mir observed that hundreds of employees working in various departments like Higher Education, School Education, Health, PDD, Finance, Planning, Home, PWD, PHE and National Health Mission, who belong to both divisions of J&K, are suffering immensely because of challenging socio-environmental conditions in Ladakh.

“Unfortunately, the J&K administration seems to have forgotten about the plight of its employees working in hostile conditions of Ladakh UT even after seeking their choices for places of postings in J&K,” Mir remarked. He appealed to the Union Home Minister to intervene into the matter and order immediate shifting of these hapless employees from Union Territory of Ladakh to their respective divisions in J&K.
