Uri residents allege R&B for violating engineering guidelines during macadamizing link road, appeals LG, others to intervene

Uri, August 29 (KNS): Residents of Salamabad Uri on Wednesday expressed strong resentment against R&B department who used sub-standard material while macadamizing a link road few days back.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), aggreived residents said that department of R&B macadamized link road of a village but unfotunately sub-standard material was used which left the work damaged just after a period of ten days.

"On few roads, department of R&B used sub-standard material and macadamized the road just to mint money from Government exchequer", locals alleged.

They said the macadamization work was not done as per the guidelines set by Government or engineers.

"Macadamization work was not done as per guidelines, rules were brazenly violated, it is why the work done has been completely damaged just after ten days", locals said.

They said the surface of the road at many spots has got broken and damaged. They also said that during rainy season the raod will get further damaged and will prove unwalkable.

Locals of the area appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr GN Itoo and SDM Uri Reyaz Malik to intervene and has sought an enquiry in the usage of sub-standard material. They further demand the road shoud be macadamized early as per the engineering guidelines. (KNS)
