Srinagar, Sept 22 (KNS): International Forum for Justice and Human Rights (IFJHR) Chairman Mohammad Ahsan Untoo on Tuesday expressed deep resentment over negligence of Kot Balwal Jail authorities for not honoring court orders regarding medical treatment of inmates suffering from multiple ailments.
According to statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Untoo said the court has months before ordered that inmates including Mohammad Amin Alai son of Wali Mohammad of Budgam, Hayat Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool of Srinagar, Tariq Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Nabi of Anantnag, Sajad Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan of Budgam, Adil Yasin son of Mohammad Yasin of Pulwama, Imran Nabi Wani son of Ghulan Nabi of Srinagar, Lateef Ahmad son of Abdul Ahad of Sopore, Daulat Ali Mugloo son of Syed Ramzan of Kupwara, Manzoor Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Maqbool of Kupwara, Ashiq Hussain Khwaja son of Abdul Jabbar of Kupwara, Ghulam Qadir Rather son of Mohammad Shafi of Sopore and Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad of Pulwama should be taken to hospital and an experts advice sought for their treatment but unfortunately authorities at the jail are playing with the lives of inmates.
“The negligence is that their Covid-19 tests are not being done thus exposing them to the dangers of this deadly disease which has been declared pandemic by WHO”, Untoo said.
He further said that if authorities do not take action immediately, IFJHR will be consulting his legal team to approach International Court of Justice (ICJ) for the redressel of the difficulties faced by Kashmiri political prisoners in different jails in and outside J&K.
He added that special rapporteur of UN on prisoners will also be approached as IFJHR cannot be a mute spectator and see the sons of the soil suffering. (KNS)
