Unscheduled power cuts irk Mawer residents, appeals DC to intervene 

 

     
Handwara, Feb 09:(KNS)    people of Mawer villages of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday expressed strong anger against the Power Development Department (PDD) and alleged they are not providing electricity to the locals as per schedule.

The aggrieved residents told they are hardly getting the 3 hours of electricity in 24 hours despite paying the regular electricity tariff bills.

They said they don’t know why the particular grid station Audoora Qalamabad is having such issues and they are leaving the people of the area to suffer.

Ghulam Rasool a local resident told since then the new Executive Officer joined the subdivision office and from that time the area witnessing the worst power cuts.

He also said due to the non-availability of electricity especially in evening hours is affecting the education of their children as their education has been badly in past two years. 

They said that earlier we were asked that the power crisis will be ended in February despite passing of several days of this month no relief has been given to us, they added.

Shabir Ahmad and another resident told that the PDD department must cut their wires as they are useless, what is the purpose of having such electricity lines without electricity.

He further said they cancel must cancel the agreements to the people as they are not providing the power supply as per the schedule.

The people of the area have urged the deputy commissioner Kupwara Imam din to intervene in the matter and direct the PDD department to provide them the electricity as per the schedule.(KNS)
