Srinagar, July 14 :(KNS) The Central Contractors Coordination Committee, a joint platform of construction contractors, has accused the government of harassing construction contractors in government treasuries to recover pending liabilities. “After several rounds of meetings with the government, it was agreed in principle to release the funds without any unnecessary objections”, Farooq Ahmad Dar, General Secretary Central Contractors Coordination Committee said.

Dar said that the funds for these works were not released later. Dar said that after convincing the higher authorities on these construction works in several rounds of meetings, they agreed in principle to disburse the funds without any unnecessary objections, and a substantial amount was disbursed. However, he lamented that a year later, the treasury officials were again raising unnecessary objections to the disbursement of the dues and preventing the disbursement of the dues.
He said that most of these works were done on the spot. In addition to the verification and scrutiny, other regulatory requirements have also been met, and the committee that was formed has also submitted its report stating that these works are not only present at the ground level, but There technical fault . Farooq Ahmad Dar said that due to the post-flood emergency and unfavourable conditions, the then government and administration had approved the extension of some works, which was subject to regulations and also benefited the public exchequer.
He accused some officers in the administration of being frivolous and said that they were not only putting the construction contractors in trouble by unnecessarily prolonging the disbursement of funds but also hampering the construction and development process. Dar called for immediate release of funds and called for an end to the policy of raising unnecessary objections and harassing contractors.(KNS)
