Ukharhal; 5th December(KNS):Envisioning unity among the people and all political parties imperative in steering out Jammu and Kashmir from the present morass created by the BJP led Union government, NC leader and district president, Ramban Sajjad Shaheen on Saturday said that the people of the erstwhile state of J&K feel humiliated, dejected and let down by the wrong policies of the central government vis-à-vis J&K and it is the National Conference that has a crucial role to play as a largest regional party of J&K to fight the joint cause.
While paying rich tributes to the Legendary leader and NC founder Jb Shiekh Mohammad Abdullah, Shaheen asked the people of the State in general and party workers in particular to recall the revolutionary role played by Sher-e- Kashmir for the welfare of the people, and said that we should follow the vision and ideals of the great leader.
Shaheen was speaking at a brief function held in connection with the 115th birth anniversary of Sher -e- Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at Ukharhal, in Banihal Constituency which was attended by prominent functionaries of the party.
Shaheen said that Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was the tallest leader of the state who has sacrificed major part of his life to get rid the people of the state from the clutches of poverty.
Shaheen called upon the youth to become agents of change and said that the state is passing through very difficult times where on one hand people of the state especially youth are being pushed against the wall and on the other hand Government is wasting no time in political, social & economic disempowerment of the people of the erstwhile J&K state & it is the youth who have an important and a valuable role to play in addressing some of the most significant and inter related challenges faced by the people, He added.
The District president said that the anti-people policies of the government have brought J&K at the volatile cross roads of history where nothing is visible except uncertainty, fear and harassment. “The scenario across the state particularly Kashmir Valley is so grim that the people are apprehensive about their safety with economic activity and development coming to grinding halt”he added.
Shaheen has appealed to the people to vote and elect PAGD Candidates and has sought support from the people of J&K for the objectives of the People's Alliance for Gupkar declaration which endeavours to strive peacefully for the restoration of rights of the people that were stripped on 5th of August,2019.
Prominent among those who attended were Block president and contesting Candidate Ukharhal-A Riyaz Ahmed Mir, block president Ramsoo Nisar Ahmed Sohil, Youth block presidents Ramsoo and Pogal-Paristan Mohd Imtyaz Mughal ,Mushataq Ahmed Sohil, besides Haji Abdul Qayoom,Parvez Ahmed and others(KNS).
