Unemployment, inflation all-time high in J&K: Ex DyCM Tara Chand


Jammu, Sept 07 (KNS): Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of jammu and Kashmir on Monday in press statement issued to KNS said “Unemployment and inflation are all time high in India which has pushed people to the verge of starvation where poor are attempting suicides”.
This was stated by former deputy chief minister of erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir and senior Congress leader, Tara Chand, while addressing a monthly meeting of workers at Khour.
A monthly meeting of workers of Khour constituency was organized today where the various issues were discussed arising due to the ongoing pandemic COVID-19.
During the meeting the Congress leaders, especially, Tara Chand expressed gratitude to the Border Road Organisation (BRO) for releasing sanction to the completion of Akhnoor-Pallanwala via Jourian-Khour road which was held due to political abeyance.
He said that the said project was started under Congress-NC government, wherein, work on Phase-1 and partial work of Phase-2 was completed but later the next government turned a Nelson Eye towards this prestigious project.
He said the political and some social organization have lodged many protests in highlighting delay in the completion of this road following which the BRO has now finally released sanction for its completion. The former DyCM also expressed gratitude to the local media in highlighting the issue of this road.
The meeting further discussed the issue of various roads of the constituency which are in dilapidated condition and urged upon the administration of the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to pay urgent attention as public is suffering badly.
While addressing the workers Tara Chand said that unemployment and inflation in Jammu and Kashmir is all time high which has pushed people towards starvation. He said that the financial health of the people was not good but the present pandemic has snatched away the source of livelihood from billions. He said thousands of youth have gone jobless and their families are at the verge of starvation.
Tara Chand further urged upon the administration to streamline the salaries of all daily rated workers as they not been paid for months and sometimes years together. He also urged the administration to regularize the services of all daily-rated workers to secure their future.
The former DyCM also demand notification to all vacancies of all departments which are lying vacant since long to absorb educated youth that will also help in lowering down unemployment.
In the last a condolence meet was held to condole the demise of two former legislators Thakur Diwakar Singh former MLA Chhamb and Thakur Rashpal Singh former MLA Kalakote. The meeting prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and extended sympathies to the bereaved families.(KNS)
