Srinagar, 2 April (KNS) : Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar said that the two out of four militants who were involved in attack on BJP Leader's house yesterday were killed in an encounter in Kakapora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday morning and the snatched weapon has been recovered from gunfight site.
Addressing a press conference, Vijay Kumar said that acting on the leads Srinagar police and Pulwama police arrested an OGW Ishfaq Ahmad who on interrogation in police station Pulwama revealed name of other two OGWs who were involved in the attack.
"The duo were arrested and on interrogating them we further came to know that the three millitants are hiding in a house of Nawaz Dar in Ghat mohalla Kakapora,IGP Kashmir added.
"Cordon was launched by security forces and police in Kakapora area of Pulwama and initial firing started at 4:35 AM.The Millitants tried to foil the cordon and forces retailiated in which millitants took shelter in nearby house, Kashmir Police Chief said as per kashmir news service.
The police chief further said the millitants made 5 civilians hostage due to which the operation was delayed till morning.
"Three millitants have been killed who have been identified as Suhail Nisar lone of Khrew, Yasir wani from Khrew and Junaid from Pirchoo Pulwama.All three have joined militant ranks this year only, two in February and one in March",he added.
Claiming two of three millitants killed in Kakapora encounter were part of attack of BJP leaders house, he said, "On investigation, it has been revealed that the yesterday's attack was a joint attempt carried by Al badr and Lashkar e Toiba.Two of the three millitants killed belong to Al-Badr and snatched weapon was recovered from millitant belonging to Al-Badr."
The two of four millitants involved in yesterday's attack belongs to Pulwama and two to srinagar city.With the help of OGWs who have been arrested, on their further interrogation and acting on the leads the other two millitants will be arrested or neutralised soon, Kashmir Police Chief said.
"The Alto 800 car used by millitants to carry attack having vehicle no. JK13E 2098 belongs to the Nawaz Dar, owner of the house where Gunfight erupted.He will be arrested under unlawful activities act",he added.
Regarding the augmentation of security of VIPs, politicians, IGP Kashmir said al lot of deliberations on reviewing the security cover of politicians including those facing threats has happened.
“Police Personnel deployed for the protection of VIPs, other politicians will get fresh training sessions, new SoPs and advisories. I assure any bid from militants to target politicians, will be foiled,” the IGP said in response to a question.
However he clarified that security cannot be provided to everyone."those who face threats and are vulnerable, will be provided enough security cover,” he said.“We will change the security guards wherever needed and accordingly enhance the cover of those who need it the most.” (KNS)
