Anantnag ,June 30(KNS): Two militants have been killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and Militants in Waghama area Bijbehara in South kashmir's Anantnag district on Tuesday morning.

An official told Kashmir News Service that two militants have been killed in an exchange of fire while as search operation is on in the area.

Earlier joint team of Police, Army’s 3 RR, CRPF and Jaamu and Kashmir police launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter in the area.

Meanwhile IGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar confirmed the killings of two militants in the gunfight and said the searches in the area is on.

Authorities have suspended the internet services in the area as precautionary measures (KNS)
