Two militants killed in Pulwama encounter: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, May 2 (KNS): Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter in Dangerpora area of Pulwama.
The encounter broke out between government forces and militants in Dangerpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday morning, police said .
Police official said that after receiving input about the presence of militants in the area, Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was jointly launched by 55 RR, SOG Pulwama and 182 BN CRPF in Dangerpora village. He said as searches were started in the area, militants who took refuge in a residential house, started firing upon search party, triggering an encounter.
“Encounter has started at Dangerpora area of Pulwama. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow”, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted earlier.
Taking to KNS , IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed killing of two unidentified militants during the operation and said both the bodies have been recovered from the encounter site .
As per local reports, two residential houses of Bashir Ahmad and Nisar Ahmad were turned into debris during exchange of fire.
Meanwhile clashes were also reported at encounter site between joint forces and protestors. The protestors were dispersed by forces after resorting to aerial firing and tear gas shelling.
Many civilians were also received minor injuries during clashes, reports said. (KNS)
