Two CRPF men killed, three injured in Sopore militant strike: IGP

Srinagar, Apr 18 (KNS): Two CRPF troopers were killed and three others suffered injuries in a militant strike in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar said on Saturday.

Reports reached to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that suspected militants opened indiscriminate fire on a joint party of CRPF and Police at Noorbagh near Ahad Bab’s crossing. During the incident, five CRPF personnel sustained injuries who were evacuated to nearby SDH hospital where two CRPF men were declared brought dead on arrival.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range Vijay Kumar told KNS that two CRPF were killed while three others got injured during the militant attack.

Earlier Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Dilbagh Singh (IPS) confirmed the killing of two CRPF troopers in the attack.

Meanwhile soon after the attack, Army, Police and CRPF rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to nab the assailants. Searches were on till this report was filed. (KNS)
