Turkwangom encounter : Three militants killed ;Army

Srinagar, June 16 (KNS): Army on Tuesday said that three militants have been killed in Turkwangom in south kashmir on today morning.
An army statement issued to KNS reads, on the intervening night of 15/ 16 Jun 20, based on specific input received from JKP about presence of three unidentified Militant , a joint operation was launched in general Area Turkwangom, District Shopian.
A cordon was quickly established around the target site in early morning hours on 16 Jun 20. After the cordon was in place, an appeal was made to the hiding Militants to surrender and give up the path of violence. The Militants in turn fired on the Security Forces, and the first contact was established.

In the firefight that ensued, three HM Militants were neutralized. Two AK-47 and one INSAS Rifle along with other war like stores were recovered from the encounter site.

The Militants killed were involved in killing of innocents Kashmiris. They were involved in the recent killing of innocent civilian, Tariq Ahmad Paul, who was abducted and brutally killed by them last week. The quick action of team security forces in eliminating threats to peace in Kashmir is heartening. The five Militants eliminated in Sugu Handamah, Sophian on 10 Jun 20 and the three Militants killed today involved in terror activities including killing of civilians. Neutralization of these Militants will go a long way in bringing peace in Shopian district. With today’s elimination, the total number of terrorist neutralized in South Kashmir in the last ten days is 19, those eliminated included many top commanders. (KNS)
