Gul asks SASB to file progress report

Srinagar, 7 July/ KNS: A meeting of the committee on the environment with its Chairman MLA Mubarak Gul in Chair was held here on Friday in assembly complex. and while addressing the meeting he asked representatives of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board (SASB) to explain the action taken on decisions take by the committee recently. Among others who participated in the meeting include Gh Mohi-u-din Sofi, Sarfaraz Khan (MLA), Abdul Majid Wani (MLA), Kafeel-u-Rehman and Shah-e-Jehan Dar(members of the committee) and I.C Jandyal, Development commissioner Amarnath shrine board and Farooq Ahmed Shah, Director Tourism Kashmir.

During his address to the meeting Chairman asked the representatives of Shrine board to explain the action taken on the decisions taken during the visit of committee to Chandanwadi and Pahalgam on 26th June 2006.Jandyal informed the committee about the measures taken by the shrine board for the preservation of ecology and environment of the area enroute holly cave. He further said that 4 toilets on the banks of river have been shifted to alternative sites. He assured that shrine board will clean the campus on both sites at Pahalgam and Baltal in association with Pahalgam Development authority (PDA) after yatra ends. The committee will also monitor the cleanliness drive during and after the Yatra period is over. The committee also stressed for cleanliness drive for the tourist places like Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Manasbal before the start of winter season.
