Three LeT militants target naka party at Kreeri: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, August 17( KNS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar Monday said that three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants attacked a joint naka party of police and CRPF at Kreeri Baramulla, resulting in the killing of two CRPF men and a special police officer (SPO).

According to KNS correspondent, IGP said that based on statements of eye-witnesses and other technical details, it seems Lashkar men who were three in number and came from orchards attacked the joint party near a shallow stream where a joint Naka team was on a normal naka duty.
"Police is developing the leads and the attackers will be soon neutralized," he told reporters at the site of attack.
On the question of two Militant attacks since August 15 in which they managed to escape, the IGP said, " we are taking note of it. At times, militants manage to flee. We are developing leads and will neutralize the militants involved in the Kreeri and Nowgam soon, he said.

He however ruled that there was an atrack on forces in Sopore yesterday.
" We had launched an operation on the basis of militant presence. The militants fired few shots and after that no contact was established," he said.
